Beitou is also one of the earliest areas in northern Taiwan to be inhabited by indigenous peoples. To preserve and promote indigenous cultural arts, the government built the Taipei Ketagalan Culture Center in the Beitou area — a venue for displaying traditional indigenous artifacts and screening indigenous-themed multimedia films.
The Ketagalan Culture Center spans ten floors. The first floor is an indigenous artifact exhibition and sales area featuring handcrafted indigenous souvenirs, along with an information desk to help visitors understand the exhibits and facilities.
The second floor is exclusively dedicated to the Pingpu (Plains Indigenous) peoples, telling the stories of the Pingpu groups and the Ketagalan tribe through video walls, text, photographs, and models.
The third floor houses the Contemporary Indigenous Exhibition Hall, introducing the cultural characteristics, traditional lifestyles, history, and religions of Taiwan's indigenous groups.
The fourth and fifth floors contain a multi-function performance hall, providing a space for indigenous music, dance, and art performances. The sixth floor is an indigenous-themed library for public learning and academic research.
The seventh and eighth floors house an indigenous crafts training center.
The ninth and tenth floors include administrative offices and spaces for indigenous-related organizations and groups.
