The Skin-Beautifying Spring Discovered by a White Fox

Yuda Onsen, conveniently located in the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a key hub for tourism and accommodation in the region.
Thanks to its geographical advantages, fresh seafood is delivered directly from the Sea of Japan and the Seto Inland Sea, providing access to a rich variety of ingredients. Historically, it was a hot spring beloved by the lords of the Ouchi clan. This origin story of the hot spring has been passed down for over 800 years.
Long ago, a white fox would soak its injured paw in a small pond every night. A curious monk who witnessed this reached into the pond water and discovered that hot spring water was flowing from it. He then enshrined a golden statue of Yakushi Nyorai (the Medicine Buddha) beside the pond, and the reputation of the “White Fox Hot Spring” — said to cure difficult ailments — spread far and wide. Known as the “Beauty Spring,” why not come and try Yuda Onsen for yourself?

The Secret of the “Skin-Beautifying Spring”

Yuda Onsen has a highly alkaline pH of 9.14, which helps remove dead skin cells and leaves the skin smooth after washing — earning it the name “Skin-Beautifying Spring.” The spring water is characteristically transparent and colorless. With an abundant daily output of 2,000 tons, there are seven spring sources, all exceeding 70°C.
