From old maps and historical documents of the Japanese colonial era, the earliest record of Xinbeitou Children's Playground dates to the early Showa period, when it was called the "Public Bathhouse Attached Playground." It is estimated to have been built after 1913.
From many old photographs of Beitou left by previous generations, one can see that many group photos were taken on the stone steps at the entrance of the Xinbeitou Children's Playground — likely because this was the most suitable spot in the Beitou hot spring area for group photos at the time.
We hope that readers who have old group photographs taken at this location can share them with us. Please contact us.
