At the entrance of Beitou Hot Spring Museum, visitors must remove their shoes and change into indoor slippers provided, which enhances the nostalgic charm of walking on the wooden floors! Stepping inside and carefully examining the preserved artifacts, one can easily envision the glorious past of this establishment.
Beitou has been famous as a hot spring destination since the Japanese colonial era. On June 17, 1913, the Taipei Prefectural Government invested in building the Beitou Public Bathhouse to provide the general public with high-quality hot spring facilities. According to available historical records, it was the largest hot spring bathhouse in East Asia at the time! The facility included hot spring pools, rest rooms, a restaurant, and recreation rooms. It frequently appeared as a filming location in Taiwanese-language movies of the era, making it an extremely important representative building in the history of Beitou's hot spring development. Interior exhibitions: The first floor features the Beitou Public Bath Exhibition Area, Hokutolite Exhibition Area, and Hot Spring Beitou Exhibition Area. The second floor houses the Beitou Hot Spring Village History Exhibition, Beitou Indigenous Peoples Exhibition, Tatami Activity Hall, Multimedia Audiovisual Room, Beitou Industry Exhibition, and Taiwan Hollywood Exhibition.
