Beitou Puji Temple is a rare Japanese Shingon Buddhist temple in Taiwan. Built in 1905, it was originally funded by railway workers of the era.
Beside the temple stands a Guanyin statue cradling a baby, with a nearby camphor tree resembling a pregnant woman, which is why worshippers affectionately call it the "Child-Giving Guanyin."
The temple features Japanese-style architecture. The main hall and the abbot's residence are preserved in their complete, simple, elegant, and classically dignified form.
